Robbers Who Robbed A Man Of Undisclosed Amounts Of Cash & Kidnapped Him Has Been Arrested

A major breakthrough has been made in a kidnapping and house robbery case that shocked communities across the Sekhukhune District, following the arrest of three male suspects in Motetema.

The suspects were arrested after a lengthy police investigation into the abduction of a man from his home in the Nyakelang Section of Tafelkop during December last year. What began as a house robbery reportedly turned into a terrifying three-day kidnapping ordeal for the victim.

According to police reports, the suspects allegedly entered the victim’s home and stole cash along with several clothing items before kidnapping him. The victim was then held captive at different unknown locations while the suspects allegedly used his bank cards and accounts to withdraw money.

Investigators discovered that multiple ATM withdrawals were made in areas including Motetema, Groblersdal and Marble Hall. Police believe the suspects deliberately moved across different precincts in an attempt to avoid detection.

Authorities further revealed that some of the stolen money was allegedly used to buy fuel at filling stations around the Motetema policing area. Surveillance footage and electronic banking records reportedly played a crucial role in tracing the suspects.

A police spokesperson praised investigators for their persistence, saying the arrests were the result of intelligence-driven policing and strong cooperation between detectives in the district.

“This was not a random crime. It was organised, calculated and deeply traumatic for the victim. These arrests show that even after a long period, police will continue working to ensure justice is served,” the spokesperson said.

The victim was eventually released and later received medical treatment and psychological support. Although he has since returned home, the incident left many residents in fear and sparked calls for stronger community safety measures.

Community leaders in Tafelkop have welcomed the arrests, describing them as a major relief for residents who have been waiting for progress in the case for more than a year.

The three suspects are expected to appear before the Motetema Magistrate’s Court on charges including house robbery, kidnapping and financial-related offences. Police say investigations are continuing and more arrests could still follow.
