72-year-old woman arrested in North West for drug dealing and possession of multiple IDs

A 72-year-old woman has been arrested in Brits, North West, after police received a tip-off alleging that she was involved in drug dealing. The shocking arrest has left the local community in disbelief, as many struggle to comprehend how someone of her age could be linked to such serious crimes.

Acting swiftly on the information, police raided the elderly woman’s residence, where they made a startling discovery. During the search, officers found a stash of Mandrax pills, a drug known for its addictive properties and widespread abuse across South Africa. However, the drugs were just the tip of the iceberg.

In addition to the Mandrax, police recovered 56 bank cards, 70 identification documents, three passports, several driver’s licenses, and additional cards belonging to various individuals. The origin of these documents is currently under investigation, with police suspecting a larger criminal operation involving identity theft, fraud, or a possible syndicate.

North West police spokesperson, Colonel Adele Myburgh, confirmed the arrest, stating that the woman is facing multiple charges, including drug possession and being in possession of suspected stolen or fraudulent documents. Authorities are now working to trace the rightful owners of the bank cards and IDs while digging deeper into the elderly suspect’s connections and potential accomplices.

The arrest has sparked heated discussions in the community, with some expressing shock and disappointment, while others believe the woman may have been coerced or used as a front for a larger criminal network.

As investigations continue, the suspect remains in police custody and is expected to appear in the Brits Magistrate’s Court soon. Law enforcement officials have urged anyone with information related to the case to come forward as they work to uncover the full extent of this complex and unusual crime
